LibrarySince the Center opened in October, one of the most anticipated programs has been the LGBTQ Center of Durham Library. Our library room at the center has been designed to accommodate a diverse collection of LGBTQ focused books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and 'zines to serve the local community. We have a small collection of materials on the shelves right now that you are welcome to come peruse and hang out for a while reading. Once the library is fully up and running community members will additionally be able to check out materials from the center.

We appreciate your patience as our Library team works to design our cataloging system that will simplify our ability to keep track of our holdings.

Our wish list for the library:

  • More librarians to help design our library protocols
  • Donations: We do not have the physical space to accommodate receiving all donations at one time, but we definitely want to accept the books that have been offered to us. If you have books that you'd like to donate to the center we ask that you contact us and give us a heads up as to how many books you have, what genres, or even better yet if you have a list of books on hand. Please email us with you name, phone number, email address and as much as you can tell us about your donation and we will get in contact with you in January and February to make arrangements for getting your materials.
  • Volunteers to help with data entry once we are ready to accept large scale library donations

If you are a librarian who would like to help out with this effort, please Contact the Library Team. If you have books you would like to donate, please click on the link below.

I would like to Donate Books to the Library.

Our volunteers have begun entering our current collection, cataloging, and setting up our future and circulation management using TinyCat.

Though it is still a work in progress you can begin to get a sneak peek at our collection here via TinyCat and LibraryThing.
